Virginia Tech got some very good news on Wednesday night when its quartet of wide receivers — Da’Quan Felton, Ali Jennings, Jaylin Lane and Stephen Gosnell — all announced that they are returning to Blacksburg next season.
Only three of those four played major snaps in 2023 since Jennings suffered an injury early in the Purdue game in Week 2. With Jennings hopefully healthy for 2024 and everyone else having a year of knowledge of the system, this group should be even better and more productive next season.
Here’s the breakdown of the 2023 production of Virginia Tech’s top seven receivers:
Player | Year | Snaps | Catches | Yards | TDs |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Stephen Gosnell | r-Jr. | 594 | 22 | 348 | 3 |
Da'Quan Felton | r-Jr. | 573 | 38 | 667 | 8 |
Jaylin Lane | r-Jr. | 480 | 37 | 524 | 6 |
Ayden Greene | Fr. | 249 | 4 | 37 | 0 |
Tucker Holloway | So. | 106 | 5 | 49 | 0 |
Ali Jennings | r-Jr. | 40 | 5 | 72 | 2 |
Xayvion Turner-Bradshaw | r-Fr. | 36 | 1 | 9 | 0 |
It’s great to have proven, productive players like Felton and Lane returning, and I think both of those guys will have a shot at the NFL one day (especially Felton). Historically, Jennings is the most productive of all of those three in college and was the projected No. 1 receiver heading into the 2023 season.
