Virginia Tech’s 24-17 Defeat At Marshall Feels Like Déjà Vu

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. 

A Virginia Tech team that couldn’t stop the run fell behind by double digits, put together some decent stretches to get back in the game but ultimately came up short, undone by inconsistent play, untimely penalties and mistakes at critical junctures.

That was the story (again) in a 24-17 loss to Marshall at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Saturday, leaving Hokies fans thinking they’re experiencing déjà vu. 

It’s been the overriding theme of the season for Virginia Tech, which is 1-3 for the first time since 1991, having let three winnable non-conference games get away the last three weeks.
