Senior tight end Nick Gallo was in and out of practice Wednesday, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry said, and remains questionable for the Hokies’ opener against Old Dominion on Saturday.
Gallo, who suffered an undisclosed injury at a scrimmage two weekends ago, was absent for the portion of practice open to the media but reportedly did some work.
“I wish it was a better situation,” Pry said.
If Gallo can’t go, the Hokies would turn to three second-year players to fill his spot. Redshirt freshman Benji Gosnell and sophomore Dae’Quan Wright are listed next on the depth chart, separated by an “or,” with redshirt freshman Harrison Saint Germain an option too.
