Brent Pry didn’t mince words when grading his Year 1 performance at Virginia Tech, acknowledging a fairly steep learning curve and admitting his attention to the defensive side of the ball as the play-caller for much of the season detracted from his head coaching duties.
Like his Hokies, however, he sees Year 2 improvement in the offing.
“I’m going to be a better head coach,” Pry said this week. “There’s no question about it.”
Chief among the reasons for his optimism is the offseason shuffling he did to his offensive staff, with one move standing out in his mind: making offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen the quarterbacks coach.
