Recent junior day visits and upcoming visits have painted more of a picture of his options for Thomas Dale (Va.) class of 2025 athlete Shamari Earls. But they’ve also given him an idea about how he projects on the field.

As his ‘athlete’ title suggests, college coaches have differed on the position that best suits him. While Duke has been the only one of his seven scholarship offers to firmly call him a wide receiver, others have expressed similar interest. Earls said he realizes he’ll likely grow more, which will help sort out his position. But still, he’s enjoyed gathering intel on his future.

“I don’t care, but I prefer more defensive side,” Earls said. “I can do both, wherever I’m needed at. When it comes to DB, I’m more comfortable on the left side for sure, facing the receiver. But I can do both.
