For Nolensville (Tenn.) four-star wide receiver Chance Fitzgerald, there was one gameday experience that stuck out throughout the recruiting process.

On Oct. 15, Fitzgerald unofficially visited Virginia Tech, for the first time, for its game against Miami. It didn’t matter that the Hokies lost the game itself. So many aspects of the visit, from the gameday atmosphere, to the people Fitzgerald talked to, resonated.

When Fitzgerald officially visited Virginia Tech Dec. 2, his mind was already made up. He committed to the Hokies Dec. 16, but that was more of a formality. He signed his letter of intent the following Wednesday.
