Losing Is A Disease

Virginia Tech
Turnovers haven’t been an issue for the Virginia Tech recently. But the Hokies reared their ugly heads against Georgia Tech. (Jon Fleming)

“Unbelievable.”

I either read that on Twitter, heard somebody say it or somebody texted it to me after the latest Virginia Tech loss, this time a 28-27 squeaker against Georgia Tech. I don’t remember which, but it doesn’t really matter.

That’s a natural word to use after a tough loss in which you managed to a blow a double-digit lead for the second game in a row. I’m even guilty of using it myself from time to time in such situations. However, the fact of the matter is that not only was the result believable, but it was likely. As soon as Keshawn King put that football on the ground when the Hokies were driving to take a three-score lead, you probably had the same thought I had.

“Here we go again.”
