Virginia Tech Quarterbacks: Two Different Competitions

Grant Wells, Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech held a mini-scrimmage on Wednesday and will go through its first full scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday. After that, Brent Pry said he expects to be able to officially name a starting quarterback.

If the season began tomorrow, here’s what I think the initial depth chart would look like…

1: Grant Wells (6-1, 208, r-Jr.)*
2: Jason Brown (6-2, 230, r-Sr.)
3: Tahj Bullock (6-3, 222, r-Fr.)
4: Devin Farrell (5-11, 195, Fr.)

*Wells has an extra year of eligibility due to COVID, so it may be more accurate to consider him to be a redshirt sophomore. Virginia Tech officially lists him as a redshirt junior, however, so we’ll conform and do the same.
