This week, Appomattox County (Va.) linebacker Tavorian Copeland is busy at the region’s annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes camp, but his mind was a little preoccupied.

Yesterday, Copeland alleviated much of what was on his mind: a commitment to Virginia Tech. He made the announcement late yesterday morning via social media. For Copeland, it wasn’t a decision he’d debated long.

“Honestly, it was the coaching staff and the players,” he said of why he chose the Hokies. “They were really accepting easily, and I thought I was part of the family once I went up there. I’ve known for probably a month, really. I was shooting for July 4, but I was really excited. I couldn’t hold the news, so I just went for it.”
