With a scholarship offer last month from West Virginia, Patriot (Va.) 2023 three-star offensive lineman Cole Surber now counts 14 in total. That list includes Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Maryland, Pittsburgh and Virginia.

The options have all given Surber plenty to think about, but as he sifts through his options he’s also waiting to see if more will come. Last weekend, Surber visited one of those that have not offered, Virginia Tech, for its junior day. Now, as he waits to see what the Hokies will do, he’s pushing forward with his recruitment.

“I think I look for a school that has good academics, good athletics, has just a great support staff there to help you,” Surber said. “Athletes going into college need that help, that prep, so time management is big. Once you get there, they’ll make sure you graduate. Having that support is one of the greatest things of playing college football, just the support.”
