Virginia Tech’s recruitment of Texas athletes has been replete with the hashtag #TX2VT. That movement has been effective, as the Hokies signed two sought after prospects for 2020, Alec Bryant and Robert Wooten, and have another high-ranking recruit, four-star Dematrius Davis, committed for the 2021 class.

According to First Coast (Fla.) 2020 three-star wide receiver Tyree Saunders, that’s not the only movement for the Hokies in play. Saunders signed his letter of intent in December, and while preparing to make the jump to Blacksburg this summer, he’s also doing some recruiting himself.

“Anything I can get going, me and being from Florida, you know I’m gonna bring some boys in, more than the past few years,” Saunders said. “We all know it’s a football state. All the top teams, the majority, has a lot of Florida boys. We make a difference in programs. For 2021, 2022, it’s just getting an early start. In Florida, everyone comes to play and recruit. I’m just trying to get VT ahead of the curve. We have a couple I know, I’m gonna try to get them on campus, talking to ‘em, telling them we can win championships. But Texas to VT, that’s real, too.”
