It has not been a good offseason for the Virginia Tech defense, particularly the secondary.  It got even worse on Monday morning when the program announced that rising senior defensive back Mook Reynolds has been dismissed from the team.

Since the end of last season, Virginia Tech has lost the following defensive backs…

CB Greg Stroman (NFL Draft pick by the Redskins)
CB Brandon Facyson (undrafted NFL free agent, signed with the Chargers)
S Terrell Edmunds (early NFL entry, first round pick by the Steelers)
CB Adonis Alexander (dismissed, academics)
NB Mook Reynolds (dismissed)
CB Jeremy Webb (injury)

That’s basically an entire starting secondary, plus one.  Graduation happens.  Stroman and Facyson had very good careers.  And considering he was a first round pick, you can’t blame Edmunds for leaving.  I feel for Jeremy Webb, who was injured in his first ever workout with the Hokies.  That’s four losses that were uncontrollable.
