Virginia Tech’s 2018 Class Represents a Big Step Forward in Recruiting

Virginia Tech is done with the 2018 recruiting class for the time being.  They are likely to pick up at least one more player in February, but based on the evidence that was collected today, the 2018 class is Tech’s best in recent memory.

I say that from both a recruiting rankings standpoint, and a Power 5 offer standpoint.  First, let’s examine the recruiting rankings.  Here they are, as of the time of this writing (approximately 4:40 PM, Wednesday, December 20)…

Rivals: No. 13
247: No. 17
247 Composite: No. 15
ESPN: No. 14

As a comparison, the last time the Hokies signed a top 20 class by Rivals was back in 2008 when they signed a whopping 31 players.  Their class was ranked No. 18 that year.  Their recent 247 Composite rankings are as follows…
