It’s been a tough week for Virginia Tech recruiting, but the Hokies did get some good news this week.

Caleb Chandler, an offensive lineman from Jefferson, Ga., pulled back on his commitment to Iowa State on Tuesday after originally committing on June 19. Chandler listed six schools he’s going to reconsider. Virginia Tech was among that group, along with Florida, Georgia Southern, Iowa State, Louisville and Mississippi State.

“At first, I was just thinking about being with a school and playing football,” Chandler said. “I didn’t consider my family or anything else. I rushed it and it’s 100 percent my fault. I decided to decommit once I started talking to my family and I just need to take my time and weigh out all my options. I just need to take my time because I only get this chance once in my life and I don’t want to rush it and make the wrong decision.”
