Damien Dozier‘s plan was to graduate from Knightdale High School (Raleigh, N.C.) this month and enroll at Virginia Tech in January of 2015. Unfortunately for the senior outside linebacker/defensive end prospect, he has had to change those plans.

“Virginia Tech said that they need me to enroll in 2016,” said Dozier, who added that he is now “looking at other options.”

The option of enrolling in January of 2016 is “a lot less appealing,” Dozier said. “I need to get to college now, so that kind of forced my hand to look at other options.”

Dozier has yet to de-commit from Tech; however, it certainly appears he is headed elsewhere unless Virginia Tech changes its stance. The Raleigh native has taken visits to Marshall and Wake Forest since learning of Virginia Tech’s request about a week-and-a-half ago. Marshall, Dozier says, has accepted him for enrollment next month.
