Hokies High On Ellis’ List

Tino Ellis played sparingly on DeMatha Catholic’s (Hyattsville, MD) varsity football squad in 2012.  Given that he was only a freshman at the time, Ellis’ lack of playing time isn’t surprising.  DeMatha is historically one of the top football programs in the East, and freshmen typically don’t play a major role.  Ellis’ lack of varsity experience did little to diminish his recruiting stock, though, as he enters his sophomore year boasting four major FBS scholarship offers.

“I have offers from Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Maryland, and Virginia,” said Ellis, a 6’1″, 185-pound wide receiver/safety.

Recruited by all four schools as a wide receiver, Ellis says he has “good technique.  I focus on the little things.  And coaches also like my great speed.”

Ellis certainly is excited by the success he has had on the recruiting trail.  He is also anxious to show why he has received those offers.  Ellis enters preseason practice a projected starter at wide receiver and safety.
