New Commit Reflects On Decision

Quite simply, Joshua Stanford felt Virginia Tech was too good an opportunity to pass up.  And this was why the Martin Luther King (Lithonia, GA) senior verbally committed to the Hokies this past weekend.

“In thinking about it on the trip, I realized that the opportunity presented before me…if I left it, I knew I’d regret it,” said the 6’2″, 170-pound wide receiver recruit, who was in Blacksburg this past weekend on an official visit.  He has cancelled an official visit to TCU scheduled for January 27.

“It was about weighing the options.  I put a lot of thought into this.  Virginia Tech’s coaches said a lot of things I was looking for without me having to say it.  That was good.  I found the fit I was looking for, and they found the fit they were looking for.  If I had found what I was looking for, I just thought, what’s the point of looking anywhere else?”

On Saturday night, at dinner at Lane Stadium, Stanford called his high school coaches, his father and his mother.  He was seeking their input and approval on a possible commitment.  All parties gave him the “green light” to commit to Virginia Tech.
