Monacan (Midlothian, VA) junior Connor Wingo-Reeves had been to a game at Lane Stadium before last Thursday. The Virginia Tech/UNC game, however, was a new experience for the 6’3″, 222-pound linebacker.
“I really enjoyed the game,” Wingo-Reeves said. “I haven’t experienced the stadium like that, on a Thursday night. I was surprised it was a packed house. I enjoyed being on the sideline and watching the team warm up. They brought me out to the middle of the field with a couple of other players and introduced us to Frank Beamer. I had met him before, but it was pretty cool. I enjoyed the atmosphere at Tech. As for the game, I really enjoyed it. There was the early turnover, but the defense really stepped up.”
Wingo-Reeves, grandson of Virginia Tech Hall of Fame athlete Sterling Wingo, is drawing serious interest from the Hokies.
“They said they’d be by a lot in December,” the standout junior said of Tech’s interest. “They said they are highly interested in me, so I guess we’ll see where that goes. I’m just working hard in the weight room to get better.”
