Woodberry Forest (VA) rising senior Carlson Milikin entered the spring having committed to the University of Virginia for lacrosse. He remains committed, but interest from major FBS-level football programs is increasing and Milikin is interested to see where it leads.
“I’m pretty much open-minded,” Milikin said of where he stands with respect to his college decision. “The lacrosse Early Signing Period is in November. I want to make a decision [on which sport to play] before that. It depends on what interest I get in football this summer, if I do well at camps. I’m 100 percent with UVa lacrosse right now. Football has been my passion since I was a little kid, so hopefully it picks up.”
The 6’0″, 190-pound Milikin has accomplished a considerable amount on the gridiron. He will be a 4-year starter on the varsity level. Woodberry Forest’s leading scorer this past season, he averaged 20 yards per catch at wide receiver. He returned a punt 75 yards and a kick-off 70 yards for touchdowns. He started at cornerback on defense, earning first-team all-Prep league and first-team all-state honors for his performance.
“He is a vicious tackler and a shutdown corner,” Tigers head coach Clint Alexander said of Milikin, who totaled five interceptions in 2010.
