Checking In On 4-Star DT Sheldon Day

With over 20 major FBS offers, Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) defensive tackle Sheldon Day has become a prized recruit in the 2012 class. The 6-2, 270-pound junior was in Blacksburg on April 23 for the Virginia Tech Spring Game, the third time he has visited Tech since last July.

“He enjoyed it,” Warren Central defensive coordinator Steve Tutsie said of Day, who toured around Blacksburg after last July’s one-day camp and returned this February for a junior day. “He really enjoyed the one on one time with Coach Beamer and Coach Wiles. That was definitely his favorite part. He enjoyed the game, but he really liked the one on one time with Coach Beamer and Coach Wiles. Coach Foster was also in that mix.”

Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech headline the long list of offers for Day, who is also receiving serious interest from Auburn and LSU. In addition to Virginia Tech, he has visited Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Tennessee. This summer, he’ll likely make more visits, including one to Florida.

Day is not revealing any favorites right now, but he plans to give at least some indication of where he is focusing soon.
