Stone Bridge’s Super Sophs

In Jonathan Allen and Ryan Burns , Stone Bridge (Ashburn, VA) could potentially have two of the top overall prospects in the state’s 2013 recruiting class. One prospect dominated this past season as a sophomore, while the other is ready to assume a starting role as a junior in 2011.

Needless to say, Jonathan Allen ‘s first season on the Stone Bridge varsity football squad was a success. The 6-3, 225-pound defensive end, a transfer from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake (VA), recorded over 90 tackles including a school record 20 sacks in 2010, setting the Stone Bridge career sack record in just one season. One of only two non-seniors on the 2010 Washington Post first-team all-metro defense, Allen also set a school record for forced fumbles with eight.

Bulldogs head coach Mickey Thompson, who has certainly seen his share of talented players, has high praise for the sophomore.

“I’ve never seen anybody get off the ball that quick,” Thompson said. “He has the quickness off the ball, but he will also smack you in the mouth. He’s relentless. He’s a super athlete. He has the ability to make something happen in a hurry. And again, he can get by you or run over you.”
