Boyce Arrested, Charged by Blacksburg Police

Rising r-junior wide receiver Xavier Boyce was arrested on Wednesday and charged with crimes related to cruelty and injuries to his infant child, according to a report by The Roanoke Times.

According to the Roanoke Times, both Boyce and his girlfriend Olivia Hutchins were arrested on Wednesday, and the Blacksburg Police Department suspect the child was injured on January 31. The police did not give any details regarding the child’s injuries.

Virginia Tech’s athletics department policy states that any athlete who is charged with a felony is automatically suspended from team activities, so we have to assume that Boyce will not participate in spring practice. The Hokies are scheduled to open practice next Wednesday.

Boyce has 11 career catches for 105 yards and one touchdown in his career. He was expected to battle with D.J. Coles and Marcus Davis for playing time this season.
