VT Offers Minnesota Cornerback

Minnetonka (MN) cornerback James Farrow committed to the University of Minnesota in March, but he has since decided to look in another direction for his college future. Virginia Tech is now one of the options for the 6-0, 170-pound speedy athlete, who averaged 46 yards per kick return last season as a junior.

Tech’s pursuit began when Farrow mailed the staff highlights from his 2009 season.

“I put together a pretty tall list of schools I was interested in, some of the better schools in the nation,” Farrow said. “I contacted Coach Gray and we e-mailed back and forth and talked on the phone. I was talking with Coach Gray again last week. He told me he presented my film to the coaches and they all liked it. He said I had a scholarship there.”

Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota and now Virginia Tech are among the 13 schools that have offered Farrow. Minnesota was the first to offer, but it appears the Minnetonka product will attend college outside the state.
