Virginia Tech Reels In Top DT Prospect

Virginia Tech men’s basketball earned a top commitment last Thursday. The football program has followed suit, picking up a commitment from a top high school junior earlier today. Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) defensive tackle Kris Harley , a 6-2, 265-pound standout, is the second 2011 class prospect to verbally commit to the Hokies.

“He committed in my room this morning at 9:30. He’s a Hokie,” Warren Central defensive coordinator Steve Tutsie said.

“He had made the decision over the weekend. He prayed and talked to his parents about it. He was ready to get it over with. Virginia Tech was the first place Kris visited. Virginia Tech was the first to offer. So, it’s not accident that Virginia Tech is where he wanted to go.”

One of the top defensive tackle prospects in the country, Harley chose Virginia Tech over numerous other offers including Oklahoma and Southern Cal. He visited Oklahoma last week before deciding to commit to Virginia Tech, where has visited three times in total including a recent trip in late February, a summer camp last year and a football game in the fall of 2008.
