Senior wide receiver Lafonte Thoroughgood, a 6-2, 212-pound prospect, has earned three official offers already with a fourth likely on the way any day.

“He has received offers from West Virginia, Tennessee and Stanford,” Scott said. “Virginia Tech just received film, but basically I know Tech is going to offer. He would’ve been offered already if he made it to camp this summer, but since he didn’t they wanted early film to approve it. Florida is calling. Notre Dame is calling.”

Thoroughgood started at quarterback last season as a sophomore, helping the Dolphins to an undefeated regular season and the Division 6, Eastern Region championship game against Oscar Smith. He added about 20 pounds of good weight this off-season and has improved physically, but at this point Coach Scott has been most impressed by Thoroughgood’s mental development.

“A lot of people will see him go from 188 pounds last year to 212 pounds or so this year. He really grew physically. He has really grown, but without a doubt what he has really done is become an excellent student of the game,” Scott said. “He does a great job of correcting himself. In practice, right after he releases a bad throw he’ll know what he should’ve done. We can be more than one-dimensional because of his mental growth.”
