2009-10 Men’s Basketball Schedule Released

Virginia Tech released the 2009-10 men’s basketball schedule on Tuesday
afternoon. Besides the typical 16 games against ACC competition, the Hokies will
also play four other power conference teams during their non-conference slate.

The schedule is also highlighted by Tech’s appearance in the Philly Hoop
Group Classic. The Hokies will take on Temple on November 27, and Delaware on
November 28. Both games will be held in the Palestra in Philadelphia, PA over
Thanksgiving weekend. Tech’s opening game of the season against Brown in Cassell
Coliseum is also part of the event.

The Hokies will travel to a warm weather environment for New Year’s. Tech
will play Seton Hall in Cancun, Mexico on January 2. The game with the Pirates
will be televised by one of the ESPN networks. It will be Virginia Tech’s first
ever regular season game to take place in another country.

Tech will face two Big Ten teams on the road this year. They will travel to
Iowa for part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on December 1. That game will tip-off
at 9:30pm, and it will be televised by ESPN2. The Hokies will also play at Penn
State on Saturday, December 12. That game will be televised by ESPN2 at
8pm.

The Hokies will host eight non-conference opponents in Cassell Coliseum:
Brown, UNC-Greensboro, Georgia, VMI, Charleston Southern, UMBC, Longwood and
North Carolina Central. Tech will also play at Campbell on November 23.

As of now, the Hokies are scheduled to play three games on ESPN2 against
Iowa, Penn State and Wake Forest. The Wake Forest game will be in Cassell
Coliseum on February 16. Tech has one game on ESPNU at Boston College on
February 24. 11 other games will be televised by either RSN, FSN, Raycom or
Comcast.

The Hokies will play the exact same ACC schedule that they faced during the
2006-07 season, which is the last time they reached the NCAA tournament.
