Top CB Louis Young to Begin College Visits

6-0 1/2, 195-pound Louis Young turned in a fantastic junior season, tallying 34 tackles, 14 pass break-ups and five interceptions on the year. The Good Counsel rising senior, one of the most highly recruited cornerback prospects in the East, looks to his sophomore season as the time when he began ascending at the cornerback position.

Specifically, Young’s growth as a cornerback can be measured in the two games Good Counsel played against WCAC rival DeMatha Catholic in 2007.

“My sophomore year, when we were playing DeMatha Catholic in the regular season, I was matched up against [current Maryland standout rising sophomore] Kenny Tate,” Young began. “He ran a fly pattern. I was so nervous and I didn’t have the confidence. The quarterback threw the ball up and he went and got it from me and our safety. It set them up to be in a position to score. I saw the tape and knew I wasn’t aggressive. Luckily, my teammates helped me out and we won the game anyway.

“We faced DeMatha again in the conference championship later in the season. I decided to be more aggressive. I pressed him. I picked off a pass. We lost 12-7, but I know it was a stepping stone for me.”
