Delaney Named ACC Player of the Week

Virginia Tech sophomore guard Malcolm Delaney was named ACC Player of the
Week following his impressive performances against Wake Forest and Miami. He is
the first Virginia Tech player to win ACC Player of the Week honors this season.

Delaney averaged 25 points, six rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in Virginia
Tech’s victories over Wake Forest and Miami.

On Wednesday night, the Hokies defeated then-#1 Wake Forest 78-71 in
Winston-Salem. Delaney led the charge, scoring 21 points and grabbing eight
rebounds, while dishing out three assists. He led Virginia Tech in scoring and
rebounding against the Demon Deacons.

As good as Delaney was against Wake, he was even better against Miami. He
finished with a career-high 29 points against the Hurricanes, and he also had
three steals. None of his shots was bigger than his clutch three-pointer with a
defender right in his face with 1:50 remaining in overtime to put the Hokies up
84-83.

In five ACC games this year, Delaney is averaging 21 points per game, which
is fifth in the conference. In those five games, he is shooting 48.6% from the
field, which ranks 10th in the ACC.
