Williams Reflects on Senior Season

Jerrodd Williams ‘ interception return for a touchdown sealed a 24-16 victory for the South Carolina squad in the 2008 edition of the North Carolina/South Carolina Shrine Bowl. Making big plays is nothing new for the 6-1, 185-pound prospect, who starred at cornerback and on special teams at Daniel High School (Central, S.C.).

“It was a good way to finish out my high school career,” Williams said of the Shrine Bowl win.

Daniel featured a formidable defensive backfield over the past several seasons. The unit broke the state record for total interceptions in 2007 and then again in 2008. Williams totaled eight over the past two years, picking off four passes in each of his last two seasons. Williams was the leader of a defensive back unit that helped Daniel to an outstanding 2008 season that included an appearance in the Class AAA, Upper State final.

“My defensive back teammates looked at me as a leader, so I tried to go out there and be an example for them,” Williams said. “We all fed off each other.”
