Hokies Fall to Michigan 1-0

Despite a great pitching performance by Angela Tincher, Virginia Tech fell to Michigan 1-0 in Game One of the Ann Arbor Super Regional on Saturday afternoon. The Hokies now must win two games on Sunday to advance.

Tincher pitched a tremendous game, as usual. She pitched a complete game, allowing one run on just four hits. She walked just one batter, and struck out 10. Unfortunately for the Hokies, it was all for naught, as Tech’s hitters couldn’t get anything going against Michigan pitcher Jordan Taylor.

Taylor pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout. She struck out 7 batters to pick up the win.

The Hokies had a chance to get off to a good start. They put two runners on base in the top half of the first inning, but couldn’t manage to score any runs. They never seriously threatened to score the rest of the game.

Michigan scored in the bottom of the sixth inning. They were finally able to put together two hits in one inning, and Angela Findlay drove in the eventual game-winning run.

Game Two will be played tomorrow at 1pm on ESPN. If necessary, Game Three will be played immediately following Game Two.
