On Saturday, March 15th, the Millbrook Pioneers captured the Group AA boys basketball state championship with a 53-43 win over Brunswick. Following the victory, head coach Scott Mankins gave all credit to his players, who finished the year with a 29-1 record.

“We’ve got good players,” said Mankins, who has a good group of players returning for next season as well. “They know what it takes to win and they made a lot of individual sacrifices to put the team ahead of anything else.”

Headlining the talented group is 6-2, 175-pound junior Erick Green , who committed to Virginia Tech in late January. Millbrook’s point guard was having an outstanding junior season before the start of the playoffs, but, according to his coach, took his game to another level beginning with the District championship win over Handley.
