Ore to Return for Senior Season

Virginia Tech’s athletics department announced today in a brief press release that running back Branden Ore will return for his redshirt senior year, the 2008 football season. Ore is currently enrolled at Virginia Tech and has withdrawn his name from consideration for the 2008 NFL Draft.

“I am determined to make my family and my teammates, along with the university and its fans, proud,” Ore said in a hokiesports.com press release. “I plan on helping Virginia Tech to another successful season.”

Ore, from Chesapeake, Virginia, rushed for 992 yards last season and has 2,776 yards in his career on 617 carries (4.5 ypc). He is fifth on Tech’s all-time rushing list, led by Cyrus Lawrence (1979-82) with 3,767 yards on 843 carries (4.47 ypc). If Ore accumulates 992 yards next season, he will be Tech’s all-time leading rusher.
