Injury Updates: Hall, Wheeler, Royal and Others

Virginia Tech is a banged up football team right now. Heading into their huge game with Florida State, the Hokies have a number of players who are making head trainer Mike Goforth earn his salary. This news and notes gives a quick recap of Virginia Tech’s injury list.

Vince Hall will not play against Florida State. He has not played since undergoing surgery on his wrist following the Clemson game. The injury hasn’t healed as fast as hoped, and Hall won’t be playing against the Seminoles this weekend. He is questionable for the Miami game, which will be his Senior Day.

Starting tight end Sam Wheeler tore his ACL in Thursday night’s game against Georgia Tech. He will miss the remainder of the season. He will have surgery sometime in November, after the swelling in his knee goes down.

Wide receiver Eddie Royal strained his calf against Georgia Tech, and did not return to the game. He is listed as questionable for Florida State. We’ll have a better idea on his status later in the week.

Xavier Adibi sprained his ankle against Georgia Tech, but he returned to the game. He will not miss any time.

Both of Virginia Tech’s centers are banged up. They are hopeful that Ryan Shuman can be ready for FSU with his high ankle sprain, but he is currently questionable. Beau Warren has a hip flexor, but the injury is not serious and he won’t miss any time.

Miami Game Time

The game time of the Miami game on November 17 is expected to be announced late this afternoon. It is possible that the networks will exercise their 6-day option on the game, which means that they’ll wait until Sunday, November 11 to announce the game time, pending the results of this Saturday’s games.

Either way, TSL will update you when the announcement is made.
