Hall to Undergo Wrist Surgery, Out 4-6 Weeks

Virginia Tech has announced that All-American senior linebacker Vince Hall suffered a broken left wrist during Saturday night’s game at Clemson, and the injury will require surgery. As a result, Hall is expected to miss 4-6 weeks of action.

The news is somewhat unexpected. Although ESPN cameras clearly showed Hall being hurt during Saturday’s game, he returned to the field shortly thereafter and was able to finish the game. He leads the team with 61 tackles. He also has five tackles for loss and two sacks.

Brett Warren, a r-junior, is listed as Hall’s backup. He is regarded as being a good player against the run, but questionable against the pass. When Hall was briefly out of the game on Saturday, it was walk-on Jonas Houseright who replaced him. Bud Foster apparently trusts Houseright in coverage moreso than Warren.

In other injury news, Ed Wang did not play against Clemson. He will likely see his first action of the year this Saturday against Duke.
