Virginia Tech Releases Men’s Basketball Schedule

Virginia Tech’s 2007-08 men’s basketball schedule was announced on Thursday,
and it features perhaps the toughest out-of-conference slate in school history.
In addition to the 16-game ACC schedule, the 2007-08 season should be a fun and
exciting one for Tech’s young team.

The Hokies open their season on November 9 in Cassell Coliseum against Elon.
This is the night before Tech’s home football game against Florida State. They
don’t play again until November 21 when they travel to Anchorage, Alaska to take
part in the Great Alaska Shootout. Tech will play three games in Anchorage
against a field that features Gonzaga, Michigan, Texas Tech, Butler, Eastern
Washington, Western Kentucky and Alaska-Anchorage. Brackets and television
coverage for the Shootout have not been announced as of yet.

The Hokies play in another tournament in late December in Madison Square
Garden beginning December 28. Tech will play Hofsta in the first game, and
either Marist or St. John’s the next day. They also participate in the Big
Ten/ACC Challenge by taking on Penn State on the road. That game will be on
November 28 at 9:30, and it will be televised by ESPN2.

The Hokies also play out-of-conference home games against UNC Asheville, UNC
Greensboro, George Washington, Liberty and Charleston Southern. They travel to
play Old Dominion and Richmond.

In the ACC portion of the schedule, Tech will play home games against
Maryland, Duke Florida State, Virginia, Miami, Georgia Tech, Boston College and
Wake Forest. The Hokies will travel to Wake Forest, Virginia, Georgia Tech,
Boston College, NC State, UNC, Maryland and Clemson.

The new schedule will be posted on TechSideline.com in the next few days.
Till then, here’s the complete slate.
