5-11, 220-pound recruit Lyndell Gibson received high praise from Virginia Tech coaches last Saturday, performing well in Tech’s senior camp. It is nothing new for the Salem (Virginia Beach, VA) linebacker, who earned Beach district Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2006.

“Coach Beamer told me he likes the way I play football,” said Gibson, who racked up 108 tackles including 14 sacks in his junior season. “He said I have a real knack for the position. They want me to come on soon. They have many senior linebackers leaving, so it is a great time to come in.”

Gibson heard from most of Virginia Tech’s coaches, but perhaps Coach Bud Foster stood out the most.

“I really liked Coach Foster,” Gibson said. “He was really nice. He said he really liked the way I play football.”
