Top DB Sets Camp Visits

6-1, 175-pound CB/S Eddie Whitley has a busy month of June planned. The Butler (Matthews, N.C.) standout junior already has three camps on his schedule, with all three camps being at ACC schools. Whitley is anxious to make many visits this summer, as he hopes to make a commitment by the middle of his senior season.

“I’m hitting Virginia Tech twice,” Whitley said of his June visit schedule. “I’m going up with [teammate] R.J. [Blanton] for camp on the 9th. Then I’m coming back with my parents on the 16th. On the 19th, I’m going to N.C. State for their camp. Coach O’Brien has given a good impression so far. I like when my mom and my dad like the coaches. I’m going to Virginia on the 26th. It’s a camp, but my parents are going with me. My dad is a football man, so he knows a lot of defensive schemes and will be able to help find a good fit for me.”

Whitley has made previous visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech.

“They are already in my top list,” Whitley said of Virginia and Virginia Tech. Both programs have offered. “I like both of them. Virginia has great academics and is one of the top public schools in the nation. It is a great school and a great campus. I love the campus. With Virginia Tech, I loved the atmosphere up there when I went to a game. A lot of reporters have asked me if the tragedy there has changed my mind about them, but that didn’t faze me. That could happen anywhere.”
