TechSideline.com to Resume Normal Coverage Today

Editorial Notice: TechSideline.com will resume coverage of Virginia Tech
athletics and recruiting Friday. Fans are of course welcome to continue to
discuss the tragedy at Virginia Tech on our message boards. Please read for more
details on our editorial plans for the coming days.

We
hesitate to call any coverage related to Virginia Tech "normal" in the
wake of what occurred Monday, but we will resume running articles about Virginia
Tech athletics and recruiting today. We have already resumed running banner,
skyscraper and message board ads for our site sponsors. We apologize if this
appears crass, but we have responsibilities to our site sponsors that we must
fulfill, even during these difficult times.

The shootings at Virginia Tech and the related information that is still
coming out will continue to dominate message board discussions on the site. In
the wake of the 9/11 attacks over five years ago, we created a board dedicated
to discussion of those attacks and the war on terrorism that resulted. It’s too
early at this point to tell if the tragedy at Virginia Tech will require a
dedicated message board. We will make that editorial decision next week.

For the time being, we ask that posters be considerate and compassionate to
other posters. We expect the message boards to be a mix of posts related to the
shootings at Virginia Tech and posts related to athletics and other topics. For
the time being, these posts must intermingle on the boards.

For the Hokie sports teams, play will resume this weekend with the Tech
baseball team hosting the University of Miami Friday through Sunday. In
addition, the Tech lacrosse team hosts Maryland on Saturday at noon and the
softball squad hosts Maryland on Saturday and Sunday.

Classes will resume at Virginia Tech Monday, though Norris Hall will not be
used for classes for the remainder of the semester.
