Jackson Loves Competition

5-9, 190 pound Bethel High School standout Jamar Jackson , who has played the cornerback position since he started playing football at age five, shows solid athleticism and awesome instincts in the defensive backfield. He has 4.51 speed in the 40 (timed during a Combine last year) and has “an uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time” according to his Head Coach Tracey Parker.

Those qualities have helped him pick-off 17 passes over the past two seasons, including nine as a junior last season. What may be more of a factor in Jackson’s success than his experience, talent, and instincts, however, is his competitive drive to compete against and beat the best.

“He loves a challenge,” Parker said in an interview earlier this year. “There were many times last season when he asked me to check the top guys in our league.”

Jackson’s competitive drive took him to the Nike Combine in Charlotteville, Virginia, where he had a chance to test his talents against wide receiver prospects from around the area. Though he didn’t get a chance to check the top-rated player there, Eleanor Roosevelt’s Derrick Williams, he did face some good competition.
