Beck Gaining National Attention

Harrison Beck is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top quarterback prospects in the East. As a junior, Beck completed 138 of 240 passes (57.5 % completion rate) for 2,271 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Last week, the Countryside High School (Clearwater, FL) star was able to show his talents, specifically his awesome arm strength, among other top prospects during the Nike Camp in Miami, Florida.

“Harrison has an outstanding arm,” Countryside Head Coach John Davis said. “He has good feet too. He’s an exciting player. He’s not a Michael Vick, but he runs around a 4.7 or 4.8 in the 40. He’s a drop-back passer who can run. His arm is just outstanding. He went to the Nike Camp in Miami last week and he told me they said he was the number one quarterback down there. He’s only 16 still and I think his upside is huge. He’s being recruited by everybody.”

According to Coach Davis, around 10 schools have officially offered Beck, with many more likely on the way. Virginia, led by primary recruiter Mike Groh, is included among those schools.

“He has at least ten offers I think,” Davis said. “Maryland, NC State, Arizona, Virginia, Nebraska have offered. Michigan, Miami, and Florida are recruiting him. Those schools haven’t offered yet…they want to see him in person in May.”
