UVA received its 14th verbal commitment from one of the top “sleeper” prospects in the 2004 recruiting class in Thierrien “Bud” Davis, a 6-1, 190 pound safety prospect from Eleanor Roosevelt High School (Greenbelt, MD).
Davis committed to Virginia shortly before he left Charlottesville yesterday, during a meeting with Head Coach Al Groh.
“Yes I did commit,” Davis said. “I’m real excited. I really liked the campus. Virginia had everything I was looking for. I liked the players, the coaches, and the students. I talked to all of them and liked them all. My host was Alvin Pearman, and I also hung out with Wali Lundy and Lance [Evans]. All of the players were very tightly knit…like a family.”
Davis, who played safety and tailback as a senior, possesses the size and speed to be successful on the next level. He has been timed at 4.33 in the 40 yard dash. In track, he posted a 10.65 time in the 100 meters during last year’s Morgan Invitational.
