Royal Returns from UVA

Westfield (Chantilly, VA) wide receiver Eddie Royal made his first official visit this weekend, as he went to the University of Virginia. The talented prospect had a great official visit, noting the time he spent with Coach Al Groh as well as the players as the highlights of his weekend.

“It was a lot of fun,” Royal said. “I spent a lot of time with the head man, Al Groh. He showed me the playbook and said they run an NFL style of offense that’s similar to the Philadelphia Eagles. I spent a lot of time with Marques Hagans, Alvin Pearman, Fontel Mines, and Deyon Williams also. I got along with the players and the coaches. I really got along with the players…I really like Marques Hagans. He’s a great player…if I went there, it doesn’t seem like it would be fair (laughs).”

Coach Groh showed Royal where he would play if he chose the Cavaliers, which would be a position similar to the one Marques Hagans played last season. Hagans is the front-runner for the starting quarterback position next season.

“They said they’d want me in the Z position,” Royal said. “That is the slot guy. I would play everywhere, in the role that Marques Hagans played last year. I’d return punts and kicks like he did. Marques said he wants me to be the playmaker for them.”
