Hermitage High School (Richmond, VA) linebacker Andrew Bowman made his final decision last evening, and has verbally committed to Virginia Tech. Bowman, who becomes Tech’s 16th verbal commitment, chose the Hokies over Virginia and Tennessee.

“He has committed to Virginia Tech,” Hermitage Head Coach Patrick Kane said. “It was tight among the final four schools. I think the difference was that he felt most comfortable with the defensive scheme at Virginia Tech. Andrew’s a pretty intuitive kid…he listens well, and he just felt more comfortable with the position he would play. It’s more of an inside linebacker spot, but it’s actually a cross between inside and outside linebacker.”

Bowman is one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia. As a senior, he played middle linebacker for Hermitage, finishing with 99 tackles (15 tackles-for-loss), five forced-fumbles, and two sacks. He earned AP AAA second-team all-state honors for his performance.
