Gonzaga (DC) wide receiver Doug Dutch made his first official visit this weekend, traveling to Virginia. He had a great time, taking in the Virginia Tech versus Virginia basketball and football games and learning more about the program in general.
“It was nice,” Dutch said. “It was everything I expected. It gave me a chance to get a feel for the place and to bond with the players. It was definitely a place I could see myself being around [for the next four years].”
Virginia’s victory over Virginia Tech caught the 6-0, 190 pound wide receiver’s attention, though almost not as much as Virginia’s offensive play-calling.
“It was nice,” Dutch said of the game. “They threw the ball like 46 times. I knew they threw the ball, but I didn’t realize they threw it that much. The crowd was good. It was nice to be around the coaches and the players and see what it’s like to be a part of the team. After the game, Coach Groh, Coach Mike [Groh] and Coach Prince gave me high-fives and told me they want me to be apart of this.”
