Smith Commits to OSU

Shaw (East Cleveland, OH) linebacker Reggie Smith solidified his verbal commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes today, and has thus eliminated Virginia from contention. He will not take his previously scheduled trip to Virginia on January 17.

Smith told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that proximity to home and family was one of the main reasons for his commitment.

With his commitment, the Cavaliers will now focus more on such recruits as Jermaine Dias, Claude “Turk” McBride, Vince Redd, Michael Heard, and possibly Emmanuel Awofadeju and Sherman Logan to fill the need at outside linebacker.

The Cavaliers already have commitments from OLB Marvin Richardson and RB/OLB James Terry for the 2003 class.
