1) Discuss the strategy, if any, of the locations of the Virginia Tech football spring clinics. Charlotte, Richmond, NOVA and Blacksburg. Realizing this clinic is for high school coaches apparently. Richmond and NOVA seem awfully close to each other to require two clinics. And, of course, no 757 clinic. – Stork

Chris Coleman: Good question, and I’ll admit I had the same question as you when I first saw the schedule: why is there no 757 coaching clinic this year? On February 17, Virginia Tech coaches will head to Charlotte for a clinic. They’ll do the same in Richmond on February 24, and they’ll be in Northern Virginia on February 25. If there’s a 757 coaching clinic, I don’t know about it, and it’s not posted on Tech’s official schedule.

Why? I don’t know. There was a clinic out there last year. A coach from the 757 texted me afterwards and told me that it was a great event and that the Virginia Tech fanbase was going to really enjoy this coaching staff.

You are correct in that building relationships with high school coaches is the main purpose of these clinics. My guess is that after a year on the job for Brent Pry and after a year recruiting parts of the 757 for Derek Jones, both guys decided that relationships with high school coaches is a bit less important in the 757 than it is elsewhere.
