Technically, offensive tackle Jordan McFadden still considers himself committed. The Class of 2018 lineman from Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C. gave his pledge to Virginia Tech on July 4.
However, Clemson offered in early August, and now it’s a two-horse race. That’s still the case, as McFadden is open to the defending national champs. This weekend will be the first of two official visits that will ultimately decide his destination.
McFadden, Rivals.com’s No. 22 player in South Carolina for 2018, will be in Blacksburg on Saturday for the Hokies’ game against Duke. He was also on campus last month for Virginia Tech’s game against Clemson. McFadden said that bolstered his commitment, at least for the time being.
“I think it’s pretty strong,” McFadden said. “Nothing’s really changed too much. I’m just closer with all the coaches. They still talk to me like they’re trying to get me. I’m close with a lot of other commits, too. We talk a lot.”
