2014 WEEK IN REVIEW: 6TH EDITION

Adonis Alexander, S, Independence (Charlotte, N.C.)

Independence crushed Porter Ridge, 42-7. The Patriots defense, which has recorded five shutouts this year, has allowed just 24 points all season.

Independence (7-0) has a bye this week.

Jahque Alleyne, DB/WR, Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA)

Alleyne had four catches for 91 yards and a touchdown as Ocean Lakes dispatched Kempsville, 56-0. Alleyne has nine catches for 230 yards and four scores so far this season.

The Dolphins are 5-0 heading into tonight’s showdown with a solid Cox Falcons squad.

Mike Arnold, OL, Winter Haven (FL)

Winter Haven captured its fifth win of the season, defeating Lake Gibson 28-7. The Blue Devils are winners of four straight.

Chris Cunningham, TE/DE, Atlantic Coast (Jacksonville, FL)

Atlantic Coast lost to Fletcher, 29-16. The Stingrays have dropped three straight after winning the first three games of the 2014 season.

Cunningham has six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns on the year. He has also recorded a sack, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

Damien Dozier, DE/OLB, Knightdale (Raleigh, N.C.)

The Knights (2-4) lost to Clayton, 32-28.

Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Dan River (Ringgold, VA)

Dan River defeated Chatham, 14-0, to move to 4-2 on the season. This was the second straight shutout recorded by the Wildcats defense, which has three shutouts this year.

In addition to being the leader of the Dan River defense, Edmunds had seven carries for 53 yards and a touchdown against Chatham. He has 256 yards and three touchdowns in total this season.

Darius Fullwood, DE, Good Counsel (Olney, MD)

Good Counsel is 2-0 in the WCAC following last week’s win over rival DeMatha Catholic. The Falcons are 5-1 overall.

Trevon Hill, DE, Salem (Virginia Beach, VA)

Salem cruised to a 34-7 win over First Colonial. The Sun Devils remain unbeaten at 6-0.

DuWayne Johnson, CB, H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.)

H.D. Woodson shutout Coolidge, 32-0, for its fifth straight win. The Warriors have only one loss on the year.

Fredrick Johnson, OL, Royal Palm Beach (FL)

Royal Palm Beach surrendered a 17-13 halftime lead, falling to Dwyer 47-24. Royal Palm Beach is 4-1.

Harry Lewis, DT, Phoebus (Hampton, VA)

Phoebus shutout Menchville, 42-0, for its fourth straight win. The Phantoms are 5-1.

Carson Lydon, LB, East Lake (Tarpon Springs, FL)

East Lake defeated Seminole, 52-28, to capture its sixth win in as many games this season. The team has a bye this week.

Deshawn McClease, RB, Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA)

Oscar Smith rolled to a 55-0 win over Deep Creek. McClease had nine carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The Tigers are 4-1 and winners of four straight games.

Mook Reynolds, CB, Northern Guilford (Greensboro, N.C.)

Northern Guilford (5-1) was dealt its first loss of the season, falling to Eastern Alamance by a score of 32-28. Reynolds had 106 yards receiving and two touchdowns, seven tackles and a pass deflection in the loss.

Eric Whitehead, DT, Arsenal Tech (Indianapolis, IN)

Arsenal lost to Fishers, 28-7, to drop to 3-2.

VT CLASS OF 2016

Logan Byrd, QB, Veterans (Kathleen, GA)

Veterans (0-5) came so close to its first win of 2014, but a touchdown with 22 seconds remaining gave Baldwin a 22-19 win. Byrd had a 16-yard touchdown pass for the Warhawks.

Conner ODonnell, WR, Concord First Assembly (N.C.)

Concord First Assembly had a bye last week. Through six games, O’Donnell has racked up 53 catches for 1,040 yards and six touchdowns.
