Robert Blanton , regarded as one of the top cornerback recruits in the nation, had a “great visit” to Blacksburg this past Saturday. The 6-1, 175-pound Butler (Matthews, N.C.) blue-chipper enjoyed his time, important especially because this may be the last visit he makes to Blacksburg before making a verbal commitment to his school of choice.

“I’m trying to get it finished before the season starts, but there is no specific date or anything,” Blanton said of his college decision.

Saturday’s visit offered Blanton an opportunity to work with Virginia Tech defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.

“It was pretty cool,” said Blanton, who performed very well in one-on-one drills including several interceptions. “I got to work out with Coach Gray a little bit and see what he is about. He seemed pretty great. Most of the drills he did we do at our school.”
