Mallard Creek Star Josh Hunter Considering VT

Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.) defensive back Josh Hunter , one of the top overall defensive prospects in the state of North Carolina’s 2009 class, has significant interest in Virginia Tech and may schedule a visit to Blacksburg for some time this fall. Nothing has been set yet, although the 6-2, 180-pound standout hopes to be in touch with primary recruiter Kevin Sherman soon.

“[Virginia Tech] has not been in contact [via phone] so much recently, but they have been in touch. I’ve been getting handwritten letters from them,” Hunter said. “I haven’t visited, but I’m trying to set something up.

“I’m always interested in Virginia Tech. I know they have a great program up there and I know a few of the people who are there now. I know Jarrett Boykin and Eddie Whitley. They tell me about it. I think they signed a few corners this past year and they have some commitments this year, so I know it would be great competition.”

Hunter mentioned Duke, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wake Forest and West Virginia as the programs that have been “calling on a regular basis” so far this month. He has scheduled two official visits, including one to West Virginia on the weekend of September 27th and the other to Wake Forest on the weekend of November 8th.
